I have this habit of getting swept up in one thing and putting the rest on a list to start later. This one has actually been on that list for a LONG time. So now the anime is coming out, which is pretty much the best time to start a series, in my opinion. I like watching the anime first, then reading the manga afterward to see all the little (or enormous) things the anime left out. I'm unfortunately having some difficulties finding a trailer for the anime at the moment. It's a little uncomfortable, considering that it's supposed to start airing on April 16.
Chaos;Head is another one of those series that I've neglected to begin. I should really get that done before the 5th. STEINS;GATE apparently takes place a year after Chaos;Head, so I'm not sure if it's necessary to watch Chaos first of not. I'm planning on it, anyway. A little tidbit that has no sooooo excited about this show: Huke did the character designs for the original game. HUKE! Okay. I'm good now.
Anyway, the general plot seems a little... weird. And usually I'm ALL FOR weird. I don't know why, but this seems like one of those things that tries to be way serious despite the ridiculous plot. One of those things I'll love while poking fun at it the whole time. Or, I could be completely off. I've also heard reviews about Chaos that say it's a bit (or extremely, depending on who you listen to) on the gory side. Which I love. Hopefully this one will follow in it's footsteps!
Ao no Exorcist
I've never even heard of this before. But the first thing that caught my attention was the promo pic. I'm a sucker for interesting looking characters (hence my love for Huke), so I decide to try out a lot of anime/manga based purely on character design. Horribly shallow of me, yes? And then I looked on Wikipedia for a little more information, and it hit me. This exactly the type of thing I love! I also looked up some of Kazue Kato's work, and her art is gorgeous, even the stuff having nothing to do with Ao no Exorcist.
And did I mention that the music in the trailer is epic?
Tono to Issho: Gantai no Yabou
Honestly, this didn't even make the maybe list when I first heard about it. I tend to avoid anything historical by default, unless it's recommended to me. But then I saw it in the spring preview. I still have no clue what the hell is supposed to be going on, but any anime that has floating screaming chibi heads in the preview is probably going to be funny. So yeah. It made my definitely list because of floating screaming chibi heads. Love me. I am VERY easy to please.
This was originally in my maybe list, but then I saw that little movie on the official website. I don't know what they were saying thanks to my lack of Japanese language skills, but what I do know is that it looks super fun.
The Above-Maybes but Below-Definites
Honto ni Atta! Reibai-Sensei
Another one that looks funny even though I'm not really clear what's going to happen. I know it's about a teacher that channels spirits, which anything having to do with the supernatural is always a plus in my book. And the promo pic looks hilarious.
When I saw the promo pic for this I got major Junjou Romantica vibes. Those vibes got stronger when I went over to Youtube in search of a trailer, and it had that sparkly gingham thing going on in the background. Then the trailer confirmed my suspicions when it said that this series was based off of a manga by Shungiku Nakamura. And, being the yaoi/bl girl that I am, this is a must. I only put it in the below-definite category because I could never really get into Junjou Romantica, and seeing as how they're both written by the same person, it's likely the same thing will happen with this one. Or! It could be my new favorite! Never know.
Reminds me a lot of K-On!. Or at least the trailer does. I'm not sure if there's a story here or if it's just a little 'snapshots of normal life' type thing. Anyway, the character designs are adorable, the art style is adorable, and that quiet girl with the baseball bat is the freaking cutest thing ever. The only reason this didn't make my definite list is because slice of life is usually hit or miss with me. It's either absolutely amazing, or it bores me to tears, and I can never tell which it will be until I start watching it.
[C] The Money of Soul and Possibility Control
The big question I had immediately was "What's the big deal?" At first it seemed like one of those inspirational 'dream big and you'll go far' kind of things. And then I saw the promo pic, and it looked like some sort of magic type thing. And then I saw the trailer. I've seen someone refer to it as 'Wall Street meets Persona', which could be very interesting. I have to admit, this anime has me confused like no other. Which is exactly why I'll be watching it, because I have no idea what this is really about, and I MUST KNOW.
(oh, and... Sakurai Takajiro...)
Hidan no Aria
I was debating on where to put this one. So far all I know about it is that there are interesting character designs and a plot that could be awesome or could fall flat right from the start. We know there are girls with guns. That's a plus. And there is a hidden power. Usually a plus. But there's nowhere near enough plot information to let me know if it'll really catch my interest. So I might give it a try.
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko
There is mystery, and there is weirdness. Both very awesome things. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the mystery is going to be looked into, or if the anime just focuses on the weirdness of Erio. I should really look this stuff up...
One good thing I can say about this anime without a doubt, though, is that the music in the trailer is made of awesome.
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
Another one of those slice of life things that I may or may not be able to live without. Also another series with cute characters and animation.
(... more Sakurai...)
I'm all for some ecchi every now and then. And this seems funny bordering on weird. Plus the animation style is interesting.
So what's the big deal with super heroes these days? They're EVERYWHERE. And these days I would avoid superhero bullshit like leprosy, so I have no clue how this even got onto my list. I just saw it and I was like "yeah, I'll be watching this. Maybe?" Honestly? I think it was the name. Or maybe how colorful the pic is... No, I'm not kidding.
Art, art, art! This doesn't really look like my cup of tea, but the art is gorgeous, and once again the character designs are just begging me to watch. So I'll be watching at least the first few episodes if I get around to it.
